There are three fire stations located in Hermosa, Hayward and Keystone.  To provide a rapid initial response, the Hermosa station is staffed 24/7.  These first responders are backed up by trained and dedicated volunteers.

The Department responds to structure fires, wildland fires, vehicle accidents, rescues, medical emergencies and natural disasters.  The Department also has mutual aid agreements with neighboring fire departments in Custer and Pennington Counties.
